Cloth choice matters more than people expect

Polyester holds colour under sunlight far better than silk and washes without dulling, which is why it is the right answer for daily school wear even where budget is not the issue.

Keep silk for staff, prize and formal ties, where it will be worn occasionally and looked at closely.
